RESULT: PREMIERSHIP PAIRS, R5

Thursday October 27, 2022
KING’S Lynn missed out on Premiership Pairs success at Belle Vue – despite recording four race wins in their five outings.

Both Richard Lawson and Frederik Jakobsen took the chequered flag twice at the National Speedway Stadium, but on each occasion, their respective partner was at the back.

Jakobsen produced one of the moves of the night in Heat 9 when he surged around Peterborough duo Chris Harris and Benjamin Basso off the second bend.

Lawson, meanwhile, won both his second and third outings – but the real frustration came in Heat 13 when the Stars faced Sheffield.

Lawson and Jakobsen gated in first and second places, but Lawson picked up unwanted drive when exiting bend two, and did well to avoid the fence – but he lost all momentum, and dropped to the back.

And that was the difference between a place in the semi-finals and last place on the night, with four clubs being covered by a single point.

Home club Belle Vue won the meeting, defeating Ipswich in the Final, which means they still have a slim mathematical chance of edging out the Witches for overall victory.

And despite the result, the Stars still remain in contention for a top three finish overall ahead of Monday’s final round at Leicester.
