KING’S Lynn have moved quickly to bring Danish star Nicolai Klindt back to the Adrian Flux Arena.

The 35-year-old returns for what will be a third spell with the PSH Environmental Stars following his surprise release by Oxford last week.

He enjoyed a terrific run in Lynn colours in 2023, hitting double figures in a run of eight meetings out of ten last summer before suffering serious injury in a crash in Poland.

Klindt is set to take the place of Vadim Tarasenko, who has informed the club that he no longer wishes to continue racing in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership.

Tarasenko’s decision was confirmed to the Stars on Tuesday, at which point they moved to secure a deal with Klindt, although the 72-hour deadline for team changes means he will be unable to race in Thursday’s away match at Oxford.

Klindt will therefore rejoin the Stars for their next home meeting when they host Birmingham at the Adrian Flux Arena next Thursday (May 2).

Promoter Keith Chapman said: “I was very sorry to hear of Vadim’s decision. He has his own reasons why, and it’s a big shame but we had to move quickly to sign a replacement.

“We had the confirmation from Vadim’s agent on Tuesday afternoon and at that point I was straight on the ‘phone to Nicolai to do a deal.

“We’ve done what we can as quickly as we can, and with Nicolai available it was definitely the right move for us to make.

“He knows the club well after the last couple of years and I’m sure he’ll fit straight back in with us.

“I know he was having a few set-up issues at Oxford but he’s a quality rider and I don’t expect him to have any problems here.

“We know what he’s capable of, he can be a very high scorer in this league and he’s the best rider available to step in for us.”

The Stars will be entitled to a facility for Tarasenko withholding services when they race at Oxford on Thursday.

They also hope to welcome back Benjamin Basso, who was hoping to be fit to ride in Denmark on Wednesday although his meeting has now been postponed.

Niels-Kristian Iversen is also due back in the Stars side after he, like Basso, was forced to miss last week’s trip to Sheffield after a crash in Denmark.
