YOUNG STARS 31 BIRMINGHAM 59

Wednesday May 11, 2016
KING’S Lynn Young Stars suffered a heavy 59-31 loss to reigning National League Champions Birmingham at the Adrian Flux Arena.

The Stebbings Car Superstore side slipped to their first home defeat of the season on a tough night all-round for Dale Allitt’s Young Stars.

Said Allitt: “We knew this was always going to be one big challenge but sometimes you are just beaten by a better team and that’s what Birmingham were tonight.

“The track was much different to what the lads have been used to in the first couple of meetings but it’s the same for both teams and Birmingham came away with the points.

“We can’t afford to dwell on this result too much; we go to Coventry on Friday and it will be interesting to see how the team respond.”

The Young Stars were outgated by their Birmingham counterparts in the majority of races and failed to register a single heat advantage all meeting.

Josh Bailey and Ryan Kinsley continued their impressive starts to the campaign on an otherwise disappointing night where all seven members of the team will have learnt plenty ahead of Friday’s trip to Coventry.

KING’S LYNN 31: Josh Bailey, 10, Ryan Kinsley, 8, Tom Stokes 6, Shane Hazelden 3+1, Nathan Greaves 3, Scott Campos 1+1, Layne Cupitt 0.

BIRMINGHAM 59: Darryl Ritchings 12, Zach Wajtknecht 11+1, Tom Perry 9+2, Danyon Hume 9+1, Jack Smith 8+1, Tom Bacon 6, Jack Parkinson-Blackburn 4+2.
