STARS 48 WOLVERHAMPTON 42

Thursday June 02, 2016
KING'S Lynn returned to winning ways with an impressive 48-42 victory over high-flying Wolverhampton.

It was a first triumph in five meetings for the Roger Warnes Transport Stars who moved into joint fifth place, level on points with Coventry and Belle Vue.

It completes a successful week for Rob Lyon's men and he was full of praise for his side.

"To get four points in the space of a few days against a very strong Wolverhampton side deserves a lot of credit," Lyon said.

"It was important to back up the consolation point we got at Monmore Green on Monday and I'm very pleased with the win.

"The way the two teams lined-up it was always going to be nip-and-tuck but we dug deep and got the three league points.

"Things are starting to come together now and hopefully this is the start of a good roll for the side."

Danish star Niels-Kristian Iversen recovered from an awkward looking fall in heat one to reel off four straight, convincing wins.

Robert Lambert continued his fine form and linked up with Iversen for a final race 5-1 for a third consecutive meeting.

Simon Lambert rode excellently at reserve scoring paid double figures while Lewis Rose more than stepped up to the plate in the main body of the team with one of his highest ever scores in the Elite League.

Mads Korneliussen and Carl Wilkinson had steady nights while Troy Batchelor endured another frustrating evening despite showing much more encouraging signs.

KING'S LYNN 48: Niels-Kristian Iversen 12, Robert Lambert 9+3, Simon Lambert 8+2, Lewis Rose 7+1, Mads Korneliussen 6, Carl Wilkinson 3+1, Troy Batchelor 3.
