Wednesday June 08, 2016
KING’S Lynn Young Stars put in a strong all-around team performance to earn a hard-fought 51-39 win over Cradley at the Adrian Flux Arena.

The Stebbings Car Superstore side ran just four last places with a determined display to overcome the Heathens in a fiercely-contested National League clash.

It was an impressive performance from the Young Stars as they leapfrogged their opponents to move up to third in the table.

Stand-in team manager for the evening Rob Lyon was full of praise for the effort shown by his side to claim three more important points.

“It was a solid performance, all the boys chipped in and it was a great result for us,” Lyon said.

“Lewis Whitmore had an excellent debut and everyone played their part, so I’m sure they’ll all be able to take lots of confidence to Belle Vue on Friday.”

Skipper Tom Stokes top scored with a classy 12 point haul, whilst No.1 Josh Bailey won his opening two rides to help them establish an early lead.

Shane Hazelden suffered just one defeat from four rides at reserve, whilst Scott Campos and Nathan Greaves put in solid performances in the main body

Ryan Kinsley and debutant Lewis Whitmore also fought to crucial contributions, suffering just one defeat apiece as the home side emerged with a well-deserved win.

The Young Stars will be looking to pick up where they left off when they quickly return to action against Belle Vue at the new National Speedway Stadium on Friday (7.30).
