BELLE VUE 45 STARS 21

KING'S Lynn boss Rob Lyon admitted the result was "inevitable" after his understrength side went down 45-21 at Belle Vue on Friday night.

The Roger Warnes Transport Stars travelled to the National Speedway Stadium without Niels-Kristian Iversen, Mads Korneliussen and Robert Lambert due to fixture clashes.

They battled hard in difficult conditions before rain brought the meeting to a premature conclusion - and Lyon conceded they were simply beaten by a better side.

However, he was keen to focus on the bigger picture, with their excellent home win over the Aces on Thursday ensuring it was a successful two days.

Said Lyon: "It was disappointing but not surprising given the fact we were forced to go there with so many riders missing.

"As I said before the meeting, the situation was what we've come to expect in the Elite League in the last couple of years which is very frustrating.

"Everyone gave it their all in difficult conditions, and everyone tried their best but the result was quite inevitable in the end really.

"We only had 11 races, but four points for Iversen, Lambert and Korneliussen tells the story and we were beaten by a better side.

"The new Belle Vue track is an excellent facility, it's just a shame we had a bit too much rain that ruined it as a spectacle and there was no choice but to call it off.

"We got the win at home the night before which was the main thing, and although the result was disappointing last night it was still a good couple of days for us."

The Stars will return to action at Coventry on Monday, July 11 before hosting Leicester on Thursday, July 14 (7.30) in their next home meeting at the Adrian Flux Arena.
