YOUNG STARS 46 KENT 44

KING'S Lynn Young Stars pulled off a dramatic victory with a 46-44 home win in a last heat decider over Kent.

Trailing by two-points, the Stebbings Car Superstore side required a 5-1 maximum from the final race to secure success over a Kent outfit previously unbeaten in the Travel Plus National League.

Visiting duo Danny Ayres and James Shanes shot out in front, but in one of the races of the season, King's Lynn pairing Nathan Greaves and Josh Bailey plugged away before coming through for the all important first and second places to seal a memorable win at the Adrian Flux Arena.

Team manager Dale Allitt said: "What a meeting and thankfully what a result in the end for the Young Stars!

"Kent were leading from heat five right up until the final few laps of the final race of the night and what an effort it was from our boys!

"Danny Ayres and James Shanes are two of the fastest riders in the league and to get past both of them deserves a lot of credit which Nathan (Greaves) and Josh (Bailey) will get for sure.

"This is a huge win for us; it's a massive three league points and we've shown again that we're capable of beating anybody in this league."

Bailey and Greaves combined for two vital race advantages in heats 13 and 15 on another super night for the heat-leader duo.

Tom Stokes and Ryan Kinsley also showed encouraging signs as they bagged seven crucial points apiece from the middle order of the team.

Shane Hazelden, Scott Campos and Lewis Whitmore all battled hard for their points as the Young Stars made it four wins on the spin to bolster their play-off bid.

KING’S LYNN 46: Josh Bailey 13+1, Nathan Greaves 11, Tom Stokes 7+2, Ryan Kinsley 7, Shane Hazelden 3+1, Scott Campos 3, Lewis Whitmore 2+2.

KENT 44: James Shanes 12+1, Danny Ayres 12, Jack Thomas 10+2, Rob Branford 9, Chris Widman 1+1, Danno Verge 0, David Mason R/R.
