SWINDON 52 STARS 38

KING'S Lynn let an eight point lead slip as they went down 52-38 at Swindon.

The Roger Warnes Transport Stars stormed to an early 16-8 lead with three heat advantages from the first four races.

However, the Norfolk outfit would go on to provide just one further race advantage and winner from the remaining 11 heats.

The result leaves the Stars 12 points off the play-off places and co-promoter Dale Allitt says his side need to put a strong run together to keep any hopes of a top four finish alive.

Said Allitt: "The Swindon track was very different in the opening four races and I think it caught their riders out.

"We were there to capitalise on that though and we opened up a good early lead.

"We're obviously disappointed to lose by the amount we did in the end but we always knew Swindon were going to come back at us stronger.

"When you look down the two sets of scores, they just had that extra bit of power throughout their side in the end and that proved to be the key difference.

"We've got a really busy period coming up during the rest of August and with meetings in hand we just need to keep fighting and pick up as many points as we possibly can."

Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen was the standout rider for the Stars as he narrowly missed out on double figures from the reserve berth.

Niels-Kristian Iversen had an up and down night but did manage two heat victories from five rides.

Troy Batchelor had a steady night at No. 5 while Robert Lambert and Rory Schlein both managed one race win apiece.

Lewis Rose would have expected more points against his former club while guest Lewis Kerr struggled for speed on a tough night for the ex King's Lynn man.

The Stars face home and away meetings next week against reigning Elite League Champions Poole.
