LAKESIDE 60 STARS 32

KING’S Lynn experienced another night to forget on their travels as they went down 60-32 against Lakeside at the Arena-Essex Raceway.

The Roger Warnes Transport Stars were well beaten on a difficult night at Purfleet, with only Niels-Kristian Iversen and Troy Batchelor offering any real resistance.

Iversen battled back from a nightmare start to notch paid 14 including a tactical ride victory in heat six.

Aussie ace Batchelor also scored double figures and won heat 15 alongside Iversen to end a tough evening on a high.

But with Robert Lambert absent due to Saturday’s Grand Prix Challenge and Nicklas Porsing ruled out due to a shoulder injury suffered on Thursday night, they were unable to challenge for a consolation point.

Team boss Rob Lyon admitted it was a night to forget for his depleted side after a much-needed win over the Hammers on home shale 24 hours earlier.

Said Lyon: “Obviously we were decimated with injuries and had Robert Lambert missing because of the GP Challenge tomorrow night.

“It was always going to be tough, and we got off to the worst possible start which left us up against it from the beginning.

“The bottom line is that the boys gave it their best, they tried hard but ultimately we weren’t good enough.

“Troy (Batchelor) was much better and chipped in with a good score. Him and Niels basically held the team together and both rode very well, but we were beaten by a Lakeside team who were just much better than us.”
