STARS 39 POOLE 53

Tuesday September 13, 2016
KING’S Lynn saw their home campaign come to a disappointing conclusion with a 53-39 defeat against Poole at the Adrian Flux Arena.

The title-chasing Pirates put in an excellent display, with Chris Holder striking a faultless maximum as they condemned the Roger Warnes Transport Stars to a comprehensive defeat.

It was a frustrating night for the Norfolk outfit, although they did end on a high a 5-1 in the final race.

Troy Batchelor took the chequered flag in heat 15 alongside Robert Lambert – but the Aussie ace admitted the result summed up their season.

Said Batchelor: “It’s a shame we couldn't end with a win at home, but I guess that just tops off our season really.

“It’s disappointing, but we’ve still got a couple of meetings to go and after winning at Belle Vue recently we’ll be looking to try and get another win somewhere.

“Overall it’s been a very disappointing year for everyone, and even though we all tried hard tonight was another tough one.”

Teenage star Lambert put in a battling display for the Stars and delivered the ride of the night to win heat 14.

Kai Huckenbeck, guesting No.1 Danny King and Nicklas Porsing all recorded a race win apiece, with Porsing scoring six points from three rides before withdrawing due to a recurrence of his rib injury.

But the home side ran nine last places, with reserve Carl Wilkinson and guest Lewis Kerr struggling to make an impact against the powerhouse Pirates.

The Stars will head to Coventry on Friday (7.30) for their penultimate fixture, whilst there will be National League action at the Adrian Flux Arena next Wednesday (7.30) as the Young Stars host Rye House.

KING’S LYNN 39: Troy Batchelor 12, Robert Lambert 9+2, Danny King 6, Nicklas Porsing 6, Kai Huckenbeck 4, Carl Wilkinson 2, Lewis Kerr 0.

POOLE 53: Chris Holder 12, Bjarne Pedersen 8+2, Krzysztof Buczkowski 8+1, Brady Kurtz 8, Adam Ellis 7+1, Kyle Newman 6+3, Rohan Tungate 4+1.
