YOUNG STARS 55 RYE HOUSE 35

KING’S Lynn Young Stars raced to a convincing 55-35 win over Rye House at the Adrian Flux Arena on Wednesday.

The Stebbings Car Superstore side still have a realistic chance of a top-half finish in the National League as they added three more points to their total.

The visitors arrived without Ben Morley due to an Elite League play-off commitment, which meant their scoring was dominated by Robert Branford and Luke Priest, but the Young Stars produced a solid display throughout the team.

Nathan Greaves and super guest Jon Armstrong both got the better of Branford, one of the league’s top riders, during the meeting - Armstrong taking the flag in Heat 1 and the duo combining over the Raiders’ No.1 for a 5-1 in Heat 15.

The visitors held proceedings close in the early stages and only trailed by four points after Heat 5, but Armstrong’s 5-1 with Ryan Kinsley in the next race enabled the Young Stars to double their lead.

And back-to-back maximums in Heats 9 and 10, both involving in-form skipper Scott Campos, saw the home side take complete control.

The Raiders’ sole advantage came in Heat 11 when Lewis Whitmore crashed out, and they avoided further damage until a stunning Heat 15 as Armstrong led from the front whilst Greaves battled his way into second place to get the better of Priest and Branford.

Team boss Dale Allitt said: “It was a good performance, Jon came in and did a great job at No.1, and it was good to see a solid team effort again.

“Nathan, Scott and Ryan all scored well again and the reserves chipped in with some points too, so it was a good win over a top-heavy side – and obviously they were hampered by being without Ben Morley and deciding to go with rider-replacement.

“It’s another win at home, and you can only beat what’s in front of you on the night.”

The Young Stars are next in action at Eastbourne on Saturday, where Connor Coles will take the guest booking at No.1.
