BUXTON 51 YOUNG STARS 39

Sunday October 09, 2016
KING’S Lynn Young Stars suffered a 51-39 defeat against Buxton on Sunday afternoon.

The Stebbings Car Superstore side fought hard throughout but were unable to prevent the Hitmen from claiming their second home win of the campaign.

Nathan Greaves starred with 13 points in the No.5 race jacket whilst experienced guest Tony Atkin notched paid double figures with a battling display in the No.1 spot.

Reserve Taylor Hampshire ended his afternoon with a composed win in heat 14, but the visitors took the chequered flag on only five occasions.

Skipper Scott Campos also added a hard-fought 8+1 – but he admitted they were disappointed to leave empty handed.

Said Campos: “On the whole we’re a bit disappointed with the result as we thought we could get a win there.

“Buxton made some late changes to their team which made them stronger and a couple of our guys had off days, which is highlighted more when you're missing a couple of key riders.

“Tony Atkin came in and did a great job for us. Nathan started a bit slow but got his set up right later on and young Taylor rode extremely well and got his race win in heat 14.

“We’re a bit disappointed but we've got to look forward to Wednesday and try and get a result in our last home meeting against Eastbourne.”

The Young Stars will look to bounce back against the Eagles at the Adrian Flux Arena this Wednesday (7.30) before hosting the re-arranged National League Pairs next Sunday, October 16 (3.30).
