POOLE V STARS, PREVIEW

Tuesday June 12, 2018
DYNAMIC Dane Niels-Kristian Iversen is back!

Grand Prix superstar Iversen makes a welcome return to the King’s Lynn side for their tricky trip to Poole on Wednesday after successful treatment on his troublesome shoulder.

It’s an important meeting for both sides as they have high hopes of climbing the table when they catch up on fixtures.

Pirates go into the meeting at full-strength with club asset Nicolai Klindt returning for his second spell in Dorset.

Despite being labelled as title favourites at the start of the campaign, Poole have struggled to get going but they have shown glimpses of recovery in recent weeks with two hard-fought points in back-to-back fixtures with Wolverhampton.

Meanwhile, the Tru Plant Stars are looking to bounce back from their disappointing home defeat to Somerset last time out.

Young reserve Kasper Andersen misses the clash in Dorset, though, because of racing commitments in Denmark which means former Stars’ rider Simon Lambert comes in as a guest.

Newly crowned British Champion Robert Lambert makes his first appearance for the Stars since the 20-year-old romped to victory with an 18-point maximum in the British Final on Monday at the National Speedway Stadium.

Stars’ boss Dale Allitt said: “We have had a bit of time to get ourselves together after the break for the Speedway of Nations, we know we have got to come back stronger after the home defeat to Somerset.

“All you can do after a defeat is regroup. You have got to define yourself and comeback stronger. It’s not going to be easy, it’s never easy going into any meeting but particularly at Poole.

“It will be nice to have Niels-Kristian Iversen and Thomas Jorgensen back in the team because we have struggled with injuries and other things in recent meetings.

“Niels has had his operation and is back racing so we’ll be able to welcome him back on Wednesday.”
