WOLVERHAMPTON 51 STARS 39

Monday May 13, 2019
KING’S Lynn suffered late heartache in a tense 51-39 Premiership defeat at Wolverhampton.

And they are sweating on the fitness of Danish star Kasper Andersen who crashed out of the meeting with a hand injury which could keep him out of Thursday’s trip to Belle Vue and the next home meeting with Poole on Monday (May 20).

The Poultec Stars were in contention until the latter stages with a string of determined races and the final score is a harsh reflection on the meeting.

There was some good racing to entertain fans, starting in the opener when Wolverhampton man Kyle Howarth pulled off a clever switch to pass Lewis Kerr and help the home side to a 4-2.

A succession of shared heats followed with former Monmore favourite Ty Proctor enjoying some fine form as he romped to successive wins.
Lynn pulled level in Heat 5 with Kerr notching a fine win and skipper Lambert, who was below his best, came through for the 4-2.

Andersen produced a fine gate in Heat Eight and led for the majority of the race until he was popped to the post by home man Howarth.
Upon completion of the race, Andersen came down and suffered a nasty tumble which ruled him out of the rest of the meeting.

Proctor was beaten for the first time by Sam Masters in Heat Ten but King’s Lynn stayed in contention at 35-31 with four races remaining.

But Wolverhampton came on strong with back-to-back maximums in Heats 13 and 14 to see off a gutsy Poultec Stars effort.

Ty Proctor said: “I know 51-39 might not look great but we’ve battled all night.
“After the interval it suited them more and they just got away with it.
“They did a lot of work on the track and it just got away from us.
“But Wolves are a good side and later on in the meetings they come on strong.
“We’re working hard and working well as a team though and we’ve still got bigger and better things to come.”

KING’S LYNN 39: Michael Palm Toft 10, Ty Proctor 8, Lewis Kerr 6+1, Robert Lambert 5+1, Kasper Andersen 5+1, Thomas Jorgensen 4+1, Erik Riss 1+1.
