STARS FACE SWINDON TEST

Sunday June 30, 2019
PETER Schroeck says King’s Lynn need to build on their previous home win when they take on Swindon, on Monday (7.30).

The Poultec Stars will be looking to bounce back from their Supporters’ Cup defeat to the Robins on Thursday which secured the Wiltshire outfit a spot in the final against Belle Vue.

German racer Erik Riss is set to make his comeback from injury against the Robins after replacing Ty Proctor in the Stars’ line-up.

The club received news that young American Broc Nicol has suffered concussion and a broken collarbone whilst guesting for Redcar at Leicester on Saturday which means Simon Lambert will slot in at reserve. The Stars will now review their options and will release an update in due course.

Swindon travel east with Troy Batchelor coming up against his former club, while club asset Stefan Nielsen will be returning to their lineup after they confirmed on Sunday he has signed for the club.

Stars’ boss Schroeck said: “After what we did against Belle Vue we want to build on that. We have got Swindon in town and they will be tough cookies, but we know what we are doing at home now.

“We have got Erik Riss back which should give us a boost and we will see what happens. Erik has been robbed of a few meetings with the accident he had, but he is really excited to be coming back.

“He is a King’s Lynn asset and he wants to establish himself and be at the club for a long time. He has been in good form since returning from injury too.

“Erik has also been practicing at King’s Lynn which went really well so, he is going to be a strong contender to be in the points for us on Monday.

“It has been difficult because obviously, to get Erik back we had to let someone go and it was a case of the numbers game in the end which is speedway for you.

“Swindon have a big advantage of the new shaped track at the Abbey so, we have got make the most of home advantage on Monday.

“It is going to be a tasty fixture with the speed of the track at King’s Lynn. Troy Batchelor knows his way around there as does Jason Doyle so, it will be a close and exciting meeting.”
