KERR COUNTING DOWN

Friday September 25, 2020
LEWIS Kerr is already counting down to 2021 to realise his dream of leading King’s Lynn into action.

Kerr was handed the captaincy last winter when fellow Norfolk rider Robert Lambert was happy to hand it over to focus on his own busy schedule.

And it’s a fairytale story for the Lynn boy who started with the club as a youngster in their junior team.

This Saturday he will aim to become national champion when he takes his place in the British Final at Ipswich.

“I was so pleased to be offered the captaincy and it’s such a shame I haven’t been able to do the job this year,” he said.

“But we’re all hoping we can keep the same team for next year and I can’t wait. Being a local boy means so much to me and it’s a true honour to ride for the club, especially as I started with them in the National League as a kid.

“I’ve spent all year just trying to stay fit and healthy and I was back on the bike at Leicester on Sunday to prepare for the British Final.”

Kerr was handed a British Final spot for Ipswich as the only Lynn man in the field as both Robert Lambert and Craig Cook were unavailable.

“Again it was a proud moment when I realised I would be the only Lynn representative in the meeting and again made more special by my local links,” he said.

“The British Final is a prestigious event as a national final and I would never want to miss a meeting like that.

“It was good to be back on a bike last week and it underlines just how much you miss it when you are off the bike for such a long time.

“I’ll always focus on my fitness and that will continue in readiness for next year.”

FANS can watch the behind closed doors British Final via the live stream available from sportcentral.tv and the official programme is available from curtis-sport.com for £5 and has 56 pages of packed content.
