PAIRS PREVIEW - ROUND 2

Wednesday June 15, 2022
KING’S Lynn will again call on Richard Lawson and skipper Josh Pickering for the second round of the Premiership Pairs at Ipswich on Thursday.

The Minors & Brady Stars lead the six-round series after their dramatic victory in the opener at Peterborough last month, and will now look to build on their advantage at Foxhall. Jake Mulford again takes the Rising Star berth.

There have been changes elsewhere with Matej Zagar coming in for Belle Vue, Troy Batchelor named by host club Ipswich, Hans Andersen appearing for Peterborough and Tobiasz Musielak racing for Sheffield.

The Stars duo approached the opening round with a clear intention of working together, and that policy paid rich dividends at the business end of the meeting.

Lawson said: “I think we were the bookies’ worst odds (at Peterborough), 18/1 or something like that, so hopefully somebody made a packet on that, and I think our odds will probably change for the next round!

“We rode well together, we got the set-ups right and it was a good combination. Sharing set-ups and having a good relationship is key.”

Meanwhile Thomas Jorgensen is expected to make his comeback in Denmark this week after missing last Thursday’s home match with Ipswich following a crash in his homeland.

The Stars are also considering their options in the Rising Star berth with the news that Jack Thomas faces six to eight weeks on the sidelines having broken both wrists in his frightening crash at the Adrian Flux Arena last week.

Stars fans unable to make the trip to Foxhall for the Pairs can take advantage of live streaming via the British Speedway Network. Full details available at: https://watch.britishspeedway.co.uk .
