STARS v SHEFFIELD, PREVIEW

Wednesday June 22, 2022
KING’S Lynn bid to put a difficult fortnight behind them when they go back into Premiership action at home to Sheffield on Thursday (7.30pm).

The Minors & Brady Stars suffered defeat to Ipswich in their last outing at the Adrian Flux Arena on a night when they were without Thomas Jorgensen and saw Rising Star reserve Jack Thomas crash out.

And since then they have lost the services of Niels-Kristian Iversen due to a Polish recall.

On the positive side, the Stars have brought in Jason Edwards as an injury replacement for Thomas, and he makes his debut in the clash with the Tigers.

The club are also looking at options for a new signing to replace Iversen, but in the meantime they do have a guest facility, and Wolverhampton’s Nick Morris steps in on Thursday.

It’s the first time the sides have met this season, with Sheffield touted as title favourites before the action got underway.

The visitors include Grand Prix star Jack Holder and British Champion Adam Ellis, along with spectacular Polish racer Tobiasz Musielak, and have already picked up an away win at Ipswich.

They were also involved in the Premiership’s first Super Heat after a 45-45 ‘draw’ at Peterborough last Monday, but were beaten in that race, and they go into the contest five points clear of King’s Lynn.

Stars boss Alex Brady said: “We recognise the importance of this meeting. Losing at home is something obviously no-one intends to do, but we felt we were strong enough this season to win every match at home, and the odd away point would carry us through to the play-offs.

“We now know that the equation is quite simple, we need to catch that home defeat up with an away win somewhere, or two potentially.

“If we can get back to winning ways on Thursday night then we’re right back in the mix for the play-offs, and we’re confident we can do that if we do our jobs correctly.

“We’re looking forward to it. It’s going to be a tricky one with no Niels, but we are ably assisted by the guest appearance from Nick who has always ridden well at King’s Lynn, so I’m hopeful of a good result.”

KING’S LYNN: Richard Lawson, Lewis Kerr, Nick Morris, Thomas Jorgensen, Josh Pickering, Richie Worrall, Jason Edwards.
