PETERBOROUGH v STARS, PREVIEW

Sunday July 03, 2022
KING’S Lynn bid to put a difficult month behind them when they make the short trip to Peterborough for a crunch Premiership local derby on Monday.

Victory is vital for both sides with the Minors & Brady Stars having seen their strong start to the season thwarted by problems in recent weeks.

By contrast, the Panthers are on the rebound from a poor start to their league campaign, and they have improved of late with home wins over Sheffield – via a Super Heat – and Ipswich.

And the Stars know an all-round team effort is essential with rider replacement in operation for unavailable No.1 Niels-Kristian Iversen.

With all six Premiership teams in action on Monday, finding a suitable guest option is an impossible task and the Stars will look to plug the gap using their own resources.

But they do go into the meeting having already won once at the East of England Arena this season, that coming in a dramatic League Cup clash on Easter Monday.

New averages mean Thomas Jorgensen drops to reserve, with Richie Worrall taking his place in the main body of the team.

The home side hope to return to full strength in their top five with Michael Palm Toft and Scott Nicholls declared in their line-up after recent knocks, whilst Jordan Jenkins is in at reserve with Jordan Palin having crashed in a GB training session on Sunday.

Stars boss Alex Brady said: “I was deflated after we lost to Sheffield, but we’ll come back fighting at Peterborough, and if we go and win there then suddenly everything’s rosy again.

“We’ve won there once already this season, so if we can replicate that without the controversy of that meeting then that would be great.

“It’s going to be tough because they’re now picking up and riding into a bit of form, so we need to do something serious over there to make sure we get four points ideally.”

Next meeting at the Adrian Flux Arena is the Premiership Pairs on Thursday, where the Stars will be represented by Josh Pickering and Richard Lawson.
