CUP FINAL COUNTDOWN

Friday October 14, 2022
KING’S Lynn will be facing a wounded Sheffield side in their upcoming League Cup Final as they bid to end the season with silverware.

The Minors & Brady Stars host the first leg of the trophy decider at the Adrian Flux Arena on Monday (7.30pm) as they look to build a lead to take to Owlerton on Thursday.

In different circumstances, the Tigers would have been looking to complete a league and Cup double – but despite having topped the regular Premiership table, they were edged out by Belle Vue in a dramatic and controversial Grand Final this week.

And that means Simon Stead’s side are likely to arrive at the Adrian Flux Arena with renewed determination to finish their own campaign with something to show for their efforts.

The Stars have been inactive since September 22 when they slammed Wolverhampton 63-27 in their last home fixture – a result which gives them great confidence for the Cup Final.

And they have confirmed a full-strength line-up for Monday, with recent signing Frederik Jakobsen crucially remaining at reserve.

Skipper Josh Pickering said: “I honestly believe that if we had this team a couple of weeks earlier we would be in a much different position now, but all the boys are ready for the Final.

“We need to win something for King’s Lynn and for all the supporters. Last year was nothing to celebrate and we have had bits of bad luck this year, but at the same time I feel we have moved things on.

“I would love to be back here next year. I have loved my Premiership racing and I honestly believe that this can be our turn to lift a trophy.”
Monday’s first leg gets underway at 7.30pm and supporters are advised to arrive early with a big crowd expected.
