SHEFFIELD v STARS, CUP FINAL PREVIEW

Wednesday October 19, 2022
CAPTAIN Josh Pickering is determined to ensure King’s Lynn put on a show in the second leg of the Premiership League Cup final at Sheffield.

The Minors & Brady Stars head up to Owlerton on Thursday (7.30) 12 points down from Monday’s disappointing home leg.

Pickering is refusing to give up the ghost, though, and whatever the final outcome he wants the King's Lynn faithful to end the night feeling inspired.

“Sheffield came to our place and did a job and there is no reason to think we can’t do that up there. Their boys are going well at the moment but we can do the same,” he said.

“We went away from Monday looking to work a few things out, it is coming to the end of a long and tiring season but we need to make sure we finish on a good note and give everyone at King’s Lynn a reason to want to come back to support us next year.”

The mammoth task comes after a 51-39 defeat at the Adrian Flux Arena in which too many underperformed.

“It was a bit of a shame and it has been the King’s Lynn way all year,” acknowledged Pickering.

“There have been times where everyone has been unbelievable and other times where we have been very below par. We need to do something to find that extra consistency.

“You can gauge when someone is having an off night, you can see it in their body language, sometimes it just happens for you but at the end of the day, we are seven professional athletes and we should have done better.”

Both teams name a full one-to-seven in the same riding order as the first leg.

SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Lewis Kerr, Adam Ellis, Kyle Howarth, Tobiasz Musielak, Justin Sedgmen, Connor Mountain.
KING’S LYNN: Richard Lawson, Thomas Jorgensen, Richie Worrall, Josh Pickering, Nicolai Klindt, Frederik Jakobsen, Jason Edwards.
