KYE Thomson is relishing his step up to the Sports Insure Premiership as he prepares for his King’s Lynn debut on Thursday.

Thomson is one of two new faces for the MacInnes Stars, with the club having also confirmed the headline signing of former World Champion Artem Laguta.

Both riders will be in the team when the Stars face Sheffield in the Sports Insure Premiership, with the Tigers ironically having a fabulous record at the Adrian Flux Arena.

Thomson has made consistent progress at Championship level since joining Edinburgh in 2021, and he’s now keen to make his mark at the top level.

And he admits he’ll be calling on the advice of club captain Josh Pickering, a team-mate with the Armadale side, as he looks to adapt to his new surroundings.

Thomson said: “I’m pretty close with Josh so I’ll get his input, especially around King’s Lynn, and he’ll give me a proper talk about what to expect – he’s always got good words of wisdom!

“Since about halfway through last season I’ve been looking to step up to the Premiership, it’s obviously been a dream of mine to do that, and to have that finally happen on Thursday is a big thing for me. It’s the next step in my career.

“Sheffield are a strong team, but obviously it’s a really big thing for the club getting Laguta in, so that’s going to be exciting.”
