STARS v PETERBOROUGH, PREVIEW

Wednesday July 26, 2023
KING’S Lynn hand a debut to new signing Emil Breum in Thursday’s A47 derby clash with Peterborough at the Adrian Flux Arena (7.30pm).

The Danish SGP2 star comes in as the MacInnes Stars cast an eye on the future whilst also looking to improve their Sports Insure Premiership results during the latter stages of the 2023 season.

Breum has been in the UK all week for some track time on his new home circuit, and he will slot into the line-up at No.2 for his first appearance.

And the Stars have drafted a couple of their old team members as they look for another win over their local rivals, having defeated the Panthers 54-36 back in mid-May.

Track specialist Richard Lawson, who rode for the club in 2021-22, comes in at No.1 as Artem Laguta misses the meeting due to a wrist injury suffered last weekend.

Meanwhile ex-Stars skipper Rory Schlein guests at No.3 for Michael Palm Toft, who is still hopeful of a return to racing next month.

Ironically Schlein would have guested last week against Leicester but was ruled out of that appearance following a heavy crash at Oxford the previous evening.

Opponents Peterborough also have plenty of AFA track knowledge, especially in their opening combination where they track Niels-Kristian Iversen and Richie Worrall.

Elsewhere in their side it’s a first appearance at Lynn for the exciting Vadim Tarasenko, who has shown plenty of encouraging signs in his debut spell in UK speedway with the Panthers.

As a team they await their first away win, but they came close to a huge shock at Wolverhampton last week when they drew 45-45 before missing out in a Super Heat.

Stars team manager David Hoggart said: “We’re excited to see what Emil can do on his debut, and I’m sure the supporters will give him a very warm welcome.

“We are desperate to get another win on the board, and because of Peterborough’s struggles this season, we have to leave the meeting with two more points on our tally.

“But they will be saying exactly the same I’m sure, and on paper they’ve got a useful side so I think we should be in for another cracking night of speedway.”

KING’S LYNN: Richard Lawson, Emil Breum, Rory Schlein, Thomas Jorgensen, Nicolai Klindt, Simon Lambert, Anders Rowe.
PETERBOROUGH: Niels-Kristian Iversen, Richie Worrall, Benjamin Basso, Ben Cook, Vadim Tarasenko, Hans Andersen, Jordan Jenkins.
