KING’S Lynn favourite Niels-Kristian Iversen says he is returning to the club with the aim of fighting for silverware.

The Dane has become an iconic figure at the Adrian Flux Arena since the Stars made their comeback to the top level of the sport back in 2011.

He spent six of the next seven seasons with the club, coinciding with the best form of his career when he won five GPs between 2013-2016, with a best finish of World No.3 in 2013.

Post-Covid, Iversen was also a popular signing in 2022, although hopes of that deal enabling him to see out the full campaign were ended by the international rules in place at the time.

But he rode full-time for Peterborough last season and after finishing the year in vintage form, he was always keen to extend his British career with a return to the Stars.

Iversen said: “I’m super excited to be back at King’s Lynn for 2024.

“It’s been some time since I was in the team full-time, so I’m super excited and super pumped for the new year.

“I hope everybody is excited for the team for 2024, and hopefully we can bring silverware to the club.

“It’s been some time, so we’re ready to go!”

Iversen is once again set for a busy schedule this year, with contracts signed in three other countries.

The second tier of Polish racing, formerly known as Division One, has now been rebranded as Speedway 2 Ekstraliga, and Iversen will be racing for Gdansk in that competition.

Meanwhile he also has deals in place in Sweden with Vargarna in the Bauhaus-Ligan, and he remains with Esbjerg in Denmark.

Elsewhere in the Stars’ line-up, new signing Patryk Wojdylo is again warming up for the European season by competing in the multi-round Argentinean International Championship, a competition he won overall last year.

There are now just eight weeks remaining until the Stars go into action in the Sports Insure Premiership with a trip to Leicester on Thursday March 21. They then host the Lions in the Adrian Flux Arena opener one week later on March 28.
