KING’S Lynn’s Rising Star Anders Rowe says he’s relishing the prospect of a full season on one of his favourite tracks this year.
The 21-year-old is one of only two riders to remain with the club from last year, having spent a successful stint with the Stars in the second half of the 2023 campaign.
The promise he had often showed at the venue in the past was translated into points on a regular basis, and he became a regular race winner with the clear highlight being his 13+1 haul in the win over Belle Vue.
That sort of form made him an automatic choice to remain in the Rising Star position in a line-up which shows substantial changes elsewhere.
Rowe said: “It was an easy decision for me to go back to King’s Lynn. I had so much fun there when I signed midway through last season, and I felt like I got dialled in with the track and I beat some really good riders around there.
“It’s always been a track that I’ve taken a liking to, but as an away rider you normally only get to race it once or twice a year.
“Every time I’ve gone there as an away rider I’ve done really well, and I’d always said it was one track I’d love to race for, so when the opportunity came about I grabbed it.
“At the time I was only doing Poole in the Championship, along with Poland and SGP2, so I thought it would be good to get some more racing into the mix.
“The first meeting was all about getting dialled in and learning different lines, plus obviously King’s Lynn has got some really grippy starts – nowhere else in the country or even the world has got that, so it took me a meeting or two to get back used to them!
“But towards the end, me and Simon Lambert got on a roll and we were both scoring really well home and away, which was great fun.”
Rowe and Michael Palm Toft are the only two riders to remain with the club from last year, with former favourite Niels-Kristian Iversen returning from time at Peterborough along with manager Rob Lyon.
And there are four completely new signings for the Stars, including Polish ace Tobiasz Musielak at No.1, in a league which appears stronger once again with several riders making their comebacks to UK racing, such as ex-World No.3 Maciej Janowski who started his British career with Lynn and has now joined Oxford.
Rowe said: “I’m really looking forward to this year. It’s a new year, a new team, a new team manager as well, and it should be good.
“The whole British Speedway league looks really good across the board, and it’s good to see some faces who haven’t been in the league for a while, or haven’t been in it before.
“It’s good because you get to race against different riders, and riders who are racing in different countries at a really high level.
“For me at 21 to be racing against those boys is really cool and I know I can beat them, so the new season can’t come quickly enough!”
The Stars open their Sports Insure Premiership campaign with a trip to Leicester on Thursday March 21, and details of press and practice will be available later this week.
