SEASON OVER FOR KLINDT

Thursday June 27, 2024
KING’S Lynn captain Nicolai Klindt has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after his crash in Poland last weekend.

Klindt was always set for a spell on the sidelines having quickly been diagnosed with a broken arm, but it has now been confirmed he also has a fractured C5 vertebra in his neck.

It is the second season in succession that the unlucky Dane has suffered a serious neck injury, and whilst the fracture is thankfully stable, he will require at least three months in a neck brace.

This obviously means his racing for 2024 is at an end, and whilst this is a massive blow for the PSH Environmental Stars, our thoughts are all with Nicolai himself who has played a big part in the club’s recent turnaround in fortunes as a natural leader and points scorer.

We wish him all the best for his recovery and hope when he returns to the UK he is able to join us at the Adrian Flux Arena.

The full statement from Nicolai’s racing team is below:

INJURY UPDATE
As many of you probably are aware, Nicolai had a very nasty crash on Sunday in the Polish League, where he was run into from behind by his team-mate. This resulted in a trip to the hospital, where they found a fracture on his lower right arm.

Monday morning, he went to Guardian Clinic in Konin, who took care of his neck injury last year, where he had an MRI scan that came back with a possible fracture on his C5 vertebra in his neck. Because of the uncertainty of the injury, he then Tuesday had a CT scan to get a clear indication of the injury.

Yesterday morning he was consulted by Dr. Adrian Szkudlarek, who could tell that the fracture was stable, though located in a very worrying place, which means that it won’t be a few weeks in a neck brace, but three months at least.

This means Nicolai’s 2024 season is over. He will have an operation on his fractured arm today and stay at Guardian Clinic for the coming weeks to get the best rehabilitation possible, to make sure he comes back even stronger!

We would like to thank everyone for the support, messages and phone calls. Our loyal sponsors who have been in contact, friends and race colleagues as well as the clubs for showing support and understand the situation Nicolai is in.

Also we would like to thank everyone at Guardian Clinic for their help and guidance since the accident. They are one of the best in their field!
