KVECH THIRD AT GILLMAN

Monday December 30, 2024
KING'S Lynn star Jan Kvech finished on the rostrum in third place in the Ikon International Speedway Masters at Gillman, Australia on Saturday.

The Czech racer is one of several European riders to be competing in events Down Under during the festive period, also including the likes of Tom Brennan and Luke Becker.

After scoring ten points in the qualifying races, Kvech won the second semi-final as he got the better of Max Fricke, Jonas Jeppesen and Fraser Bowes, whilst Chris Holder won the other semi.

Jack Holder, with a 15-point maximum, and Jaimon Lidsey were automatic qualifiers for the Final.

It was Jack Holder who then got the better of his brother in the Final to win the Leigh Adams Medal, whilst Kvech held on to third place ahead of Lidsey.

Kvech then raced in the Phil Crump Solo Classic at Mildura on Sunday, scoring eight points from five rides including two race wins.

That placed him in the B Final where only the winner would progress to the six-rider A Final, but Kvech finished second there to Sam Masters and therefore his night was over. Brady Kurtz then won the meeting thanks to a fast start from the outside which saw him quickly overcome Lidsey.
