NEW signing Chris Harris knows he stands to gain from starting the season in a reserve berth for King’s Lynn – but he’s stressed his bigger motivation comes from overall team success.


Harris will line up at No.6 in the early weeks of the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership campaign, which means team manager Rob Lyon has the option of giving him additional rides should the need present itself.

But if the PSH Environmental Stars’ top five functions as expected, then that discussion may prove irrelevant, and Harris says he his focus is on what he can bring to the side as a whole.

Harris said: “I know I could be taking more rides, people say that, but I’ve got to make sure I’m on top of my game.

“If I’m not scoring the points then I won’t be having these extra rides – and hopefully the team is winning and I don’t need to have them.

“Much as it’s nice to have more rides because it’s more money in my pocket if I score the points, we want to make sure the whole team is working as a unit, and I think the seven of us can.”

Amongst many fascinating sub-plots in the 2025 season is the renewal of rivalries between the Stars and their East Anglian neighbours Ipswich.

The Witches have dominated the clashes between the sides in recent years, and are likely to be installed as title favourites with a powerful line-up – but Harris, a veteran of several of the sport’s other classic derby encounters, is fully aware of what those meetings mean to the supporters.

Harris said: “I don’t see why we shouldn’t have a strong season. On paper Ipswich do look really strong, but paper doesn’t win you matches!

“They’ve kept the majority of their team together, so they’ll be used to each other, but it’s all about what happens on the day.

“It’s a long season and the goal is the play-offs first and then go from there, but we’ll definitely be hunting to get one over them as well! We want to get King’s Lynn back up at the top.”
