KING’S Lynn’s new National Development Trophy team will take to the track for the first time next Monday (April 14).
Whilst the senior team race their vital home clash with Leicester, the Blueprint Construction Young Stars are on the road to Birmingham for their opening fixture.
Led by captain Jody Scott and including several of the country’s top talents, hopes are high for a successful campaign.
The trip to Perry Barr will give the team the opportunity to bed in, ahead of their first appearance at the Adrian Flux Arena in the return fixture against the Bulls on Wednesday April 30.
Manager Jason Pipe said: “The Young Stars have all been getting some practice laps in around the country over recent weeks.
“The riders and their mechanics/parents had a good team bonding session in Workington over one weekend in early March. We’ve had our press and practice day when the lads also went bowling and played pool and finished the day off with a meal together, and also some of them attended my recent private hire day at Leicester.
“A good team spirit has been created already, and all the lads are really up for these fixtures ahead.
“This is a very young team, with an average age of 16.75. Not one of them will have any pressure on them and it’s all about them going out on track and enjoy racing their bikes.
“Personally I think we have put a very good team together at Lynn and it’s going to be good seeing these riders progress over the season, because I believe every one of our riders will progress over the season.
“These riders all know they have an aim in riding for this team, and that’s to try and put themselves into the shop window for a rising star position in the King’s Lynn main team, in the Premiership.
“Just look at our local boy Ashton Boughen, this year riding in the Premiership as a Rising Star for his home town club. He only started out riding in second halves in the summer of 2022 and by 2024 he was riding in the Championship and the Premiership and also representing GB. So it can be achieved.
“The opportunity is there for all seven riders. This team has been put together for this reason and it will be interesting to see where these riders will be themselves within the next two years.”
Supporters at the Adrian Flux Arena for the PSH Environmental Stars’ match against Leicester will be kept in touch with score updates from Perry Barr.
YOUNG STARS TEAM FOR MONDAY: Jody Scott, Harrison Rogers, Ashton Vale, Max Perry, Luke Harrison, Calum Mitchell, Cooper Rushen.
