KING’S Lynn are back in ROWE Motor Oil Premiership action on Monday (7.30pm) when defending champions Belle Vue visit the Adrian Flux Arena.
It’s another big meeting for the PSH Environmental Stars, who were involved in high drama last week with two sensational results against fierce rivals Ipswich.
Stars got the better of their opponents from Suffolk in both league and KO Cup despite tracking a depleted team on both occasions, with their draw at Foxhall last Thursday setting up next week’s Final against Leicester.
Premiership points are on the line first against the Aces, though, with the Manchester side moving to the top of the table thanks to their win at Oxford last week.
The Belle Vue spearhead is well known with Brady Kurtz and Dan Bewley currently in the top four of the World Championship standings, and their Grand Prix form is very much mirrored by their displays in the UK.
However, Lynn’s strength in depth proved sufficient against an Ipswich team with a similarly powerful top two, and they would have beaten the Aces at home in March but for a series of cruel mechanical breakdowns, which occurred three times when they were in 5-1 positions.
They also performed strongly at the National Speedway Stadium recently, meaning the aggregate point is very much a target with the deficit at the start of the meeting standing at just six points.
After missing the Ipswich matches due to rib damage, Niels-Kristian Iversen is set to resume his place at No.1 for the Stars, who bring in Dan Thompson to guest for the absent Ben Cook.
Skipper Nicolai Klindt will look to keep up his great form at reserve whilst Jan Kvech, who was also a hero in the home match last week, collected a bronze medal with Czechia at the European Pairs Championship.
Manager Rob Lyon said: “It’s another big one, and they’re all big ones at the moment in this league, but we will go into it with a lot of confidence and belief.
“We’ve been showing that for the last month or so, we’ve been showing what we can do as a team, and really it would be great if the season could start again now!
“Obviously I’d like a full team, and it will be good to get Niels back. The boys are responding so well at the moment.”
