THURSDAY PREVIEW: STARS v BIRMINGHAM

Wednesday August 13, 2025
KING'S Lynn make a welcome return to full strength when they face Birmingham at the Adrian Flux Arena on Thursday (7.30pm).

The PSH Environmental Stars were successful at Perry Barr in the reverse fixture on Monday with a 47-43 win, and the coming days offer them a good chance to add more points to their ROWE Motor Oil Premiership total.

The clash with the Brummies is the first of two home matches in five days, with Oxford Spires in town on Monday, and the Stars will be looking for nothing less than two victories.

Their hopes of a strong run to the end of the season are boosted by the return of Ben Cook, who has endured an injury-plagued campaign since joining the club last winter.

Cook's most recent absence has been down to a 28-day suspension imposed by the Speedway Control Bureau after he took the decision that his recovery from a badly broken wrist was being hampered by appearing on British tracks compared to the smoother surfaces in Poland.

Ironically the main problem re-emerged during the Stars' visit to a bumpy Birmingham circuit in late-June, and it is against the Brummies that Cook makes his comeback, albeit on home territory at the AFA.

Skipper Nicolai Klindt is also expected to take his place at No.5 despite a heavy crash at Perry Barr on Monday which caused him to miss his final ride.

Sadly, this will be Birmingham's final visit to the Adrian Flux Arena for the time being at least, as their stadium will be closing shortly after their last home match against Leicester later this month.

The Brummies are led by former Stars racer Tobiasz Musielak and they also include ex-Grand Prix regular Matej Zagar and talented Aussie Keynan Rew.

Former Stars skipper Simon Lambert guests for the injured Ben Barker at reserve, whilst rider replacement is in operation for Jonas Jeppesen due to illness.

King's Lynn manager Rob Lyon said: "I spoke to Ben (Cook) on Monday and he's all good to go for Thursday night, no problems there, and it will be good to get back to full strength.

"I know it's been tough for Birmingham, and it's very sad to see them having to close. I felt the racing on Monday was pretty good in parts, and obviously we were pleased to get the win there.

"We've got four home matches to go, and we want to finish strongly. The match against Leicester recently wasn't like us at all, and we're keen to get another win and three points."

Thursday's meeting will offer a further opportunity to celebrate the club's National Development Trophy title win, as team manager Jason Pipe and various members of the Young Stars team will be in attendance in the stadium entrance area for supporters to take photos with the riders and the trophy.

BIRMINGHAM: Tobiasz Musielak, Jonas Jeppesen R/R, Keynan Rew, Paco Castagna, Matej Zagar, Simon Lambert, Sam Hagon.
