KING'S Lynn completed a quickfire double over bottom club Birmingham with a comfortable 53-37 win in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership at the Adrian Flux Arena.
The PSH Environmental Stars had been taken to a last-heat decider at Perry Barr 72 hours earlier, but back on home shale they had the points in the bag long before that stage.
It did take a little time for Lynn to exert full control, with the Brummies just two points down after Heat 7, but that was largely due to some mechanical misfortune for the home side.
And with those problems resolved, the second half of the meeting was all one-way traffic before a consolation 5-1 to the visitors in the last race.
Richard Lawson led the way with four classy wins, before he was denied what looked a likely a full maximum when he shed a chain at the start of Heat 15.
Meanwhile Jan Kvech dropped just one point in his four outings as he was headed by Matej Zagar in Heat 6 as the Slovenian took one of just four Brummies race wins.
The first of those came in fortunate circumstances for Birmingham as the returning Ben Cook was well clear in Heat 2 for Lynn before he slowed midway through the race, allowing guest Simon Lambert to go through for the win.
Lynn were frustrated again in Heat 5 when Lawson and Chris Harris were set for a straightforward 5-1 only for Harris to blow an engine on the third lap, gifting a shared race to Paco Castagna and Tobiasz Musielak.
The latter endured a miserable return to the Adrian Flux Arena, his night summed up when he finished last in Heat 11 a race impressively won by Cook ahead of a batting Sam Hagon, who put in plenty of effort for the visitors and got his reward by defeating Nicolai Klindt.
But by that stage the Stars were in complete charge of the meeting, with Lawson pulling off one of the moves of the night to switch back inside Zagar off turn four to win Heat 9.
A second 5-1 on the night for the Kvech/Niels-Kristian Iversen combination in Heat 10 opened the lead into double figures, and things didn't improve for the Brummies when they made their tactical move.
Zagar came into Heat 12 but he only succeeded in impeding his own team-mate Keynan Rew on the first bend as Harris surged clear for the win with Luke Harrison holding an excellent third place.
The points kept on flowing for the Stars with a 4-2 in Heat 13 and a 5-1 from Lawson and Cook in the next, until Lawson's misfortune in Heat 15 enabled Rew and Hagon to give the Brummies their best moment of the night in the final race.
King's Lynn manager Rob Lyon said: "We were a little tentative in a few heats and we also had a bit of bad luck with Bomber's engine going, Richard on the line in Heat 15 and also Ben in Heat 2.
"That bad luck kept Birmingham in the match a little bit, but I always felt comfortable enough to win the meeting and it was a reasonably solid performance.
"We did what we needed to do, and it was good for the confidence. It was good for Ben to get some track time, and for Richard that's just the way it goes "" Heat 15 was a shame because he was spot-on tonight, but you can't do anything about it unfortunately."
Stars are back at the Adrian Flux Arena this coming Monday (August 18) when they host Oxford.
