STARS LAND MAX AT No.1

Wednesday December 24, 2025
KING'S Lynn have completed a sensational move for the Premiership's top rider as Australian GP superstar Max Fricke joins the club for the 2026 season.

The 29-year-old makes the switch to the Adrian Flux Arena after three seasons with rivals Leicester, during which time he led the Lions to two league Grand Finals as well as the KO Cup earlier this year, ironically at the expense of the PSH Environmental Stars in the Final.

Fricke has been a regular in UK racing since his early days at Championship level with Edinburgh in 2013, and he then spent an extensive top-flight spell with Belle Vue before his move to the East Midlands in 2023.

The 2025 season saw Fricke deliver an incredible season for the Lions, completing the campaign with an average of 9.89 "“ nearly a point clear of the sport's other top stars, with Sheffield's Jack Holder the only other rider to finish above nine.

He is also a Grand Prix regular, racing against the likes of Stars club legend Robert Lambert, and he finished eighth overall last year having won rounds at Torun and Warsaw in previous seasons.

Stars manager Rob Lyon is delighted to welcome Fricke to the club as an out-and-out No.1 points scoring machine "“ and he also admits it's a departure from the recent team-building policy, especially in 2025 when they went for strength in depth.

Lyon said: "We had been thinking about potentially staying as we were, because it was obvious to anyone that without injuries this year we would have been comfortably in the mix.

"But then when the rules were being discussed, we weren't convinced that we would have enough points for a very strong reserve to go with the same type of formula. It was clearly evident with a reduced points limit that it wasn't going to be possible.

"So once we were aware that Max was available, it was a no-brainer to make contact and see if we could do something, and that was the thought process behind it.

"King's Lynn have been without a recognised No.1 really on a permanent basis since 2019, so why not? We realise it takes up a lot of points, but we feel we have enough excitement in the rest of the team to cope with it.

"Max actually used to come to King's Lynn a bit because he rode in Denmark when he first came over, and he stayed with Mads Korneliussen for a while. I had some long conversations with his father about joining us when he was leaving Edinburgh, and he ended up going to Belle Vue, so you could say this is about 11 years in the making!

"I'm excited to work with him. He's a nice guy, very professional and level-headed, and hopefully he can bang some points in for us like he has done for Leicester and others over the years."

Fricke comes in at No.1 for a PSH Environmental Stars side which is already confirmed to also contain Chris Harris and Jan Kvech, and more news is expected shortly after Christmas.

The club would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support in 2025 and we send our compliments of the festive season as we look forward to a very exciting year ahead.
