PREVIEW: STARS v IPSWICH (KO CUP)

Sunday April 12, 2026
KING’S Lynn race their long-awaited first home match of the season with local rivals Ipswich providing the opposition at the Adrian Flux Arena on Monday (7.30pm).

It’s the return fixture from Thursday’s KO Cup encounter at Foxhall, and the overall position between the sides is fascinatingly poised with the Witches having won that meeting 50-40.

Whilst aggregate success on Monday does not guarantee progression in the competition, as the Cup is run on a mini-league format this season, there’s no doubt it would be a significant boost with both clubs still to face newcomers Northampton.

For the PSH Environmental Stars, new No.1 Max Fricke was in magnificent form at Ipswich, and he makes his home debut along with Paco Castagna and youngster Cooper Rushen.

Stars boss Rob Lyon has shuffled the riding order in the top five with Castagna now taking the No.2 position alongside Fricke, whilst Ben Cook is set to form a powerful middle-order combination with skipper Chris Harris as he moves to No.4.

The Witches are unchanged from Thursday, and they include plenty of Adrian Flux Arena experience in their ranks including 2025 Stars rider Richard Lawson, along with Tobias Musielak who had a short stint with the club in 2024, and former Lynn Rising Star Jason Edwards who was impressive at Foxhall.

Lyon said: “I was encouraged by a few good things at Ipswich, and now we’ll see what we can do at home on Monday.

“Ipswich did deserve to win on Thursday, but I’m pretty confident we can pull it back. We have to aim for the aggregate point, and we’ll give it our best, 100 per cent, and hopefully that will be good enough.”

KING’S LYNN: Max Fricke, Paco Castagna, Chris Harris, Ben Cook, Jan Kvech, Cooper Rushen, Jody Scott.
IPSWICH: Tom Brennan, Danny King, Tobiasz Musielak, Scott Nicholls, Richard Lawson, Philip Hellstrom-Bangs, Jason Edwards.
