KING’S Lynn No.1 Max Fricke gets his World Championship campaign underway this weekend with the German Grand Prix taking place at Landshut.
Fricke goes into the 2026 season having finished eighth overall last year, although it was a year of near misses in many ways.
He reached the Last Chance Qualifiers in seven of the ten rounds, but was unable to convert any of them into a Final appearance, leaving him three points short of automatic qualification for this season – although there was never too much doubt that he would receive one of the nominated places.
Eighth place did match his best overall result so far, and Fricke has two GP wins to his name, those coming at Torun in 2020 and Warsaw in 2022.
Now with the competition arguably fiercer than ever in 2026, he’s hoping to take the next step starting in the opening round.
Fricke said: “We’re always trying to find that bit more. Small margins cam make a difference. We will keep working and try to do the best we can.
“There’s been some good rounds and not so good rounds. We begin from zero again now and start this year with a new outlook.”
Fricke will be joined by his PSH Environmental Stars team-mate Jan Kvech in three weeks’ time as the wild card for the Czech Republic Grand Prix, whilst Rounds 3 and 4 take place on his old home track of Belle Vue on June 5 and 6.
