KING’S Lynn race their first away fixture in this season’s ROWE Motor Oil Premiership when they make the short trip to local rivals Ipswich on Bank Holiday Monday (2.15pm).
The PSH Environmental Stars already have a win on the board from last week’s hard-fought home success over Sheffield, and now they will look to pull off a big result in what is likely to be a fierce atmosphere.
Lynn have already raced at Foxhall once this season, going down to a 50-40 defeat in the KO Cup where much of the damage was done in the early stages of the meeting.
But an afternoon event often produces totally different track conditions, and the Stars will be hoping to put the Witches under early pressure.
Manager Rob Lyon is able to name a full-strength line-up with Paco Castagna back in the side after missing the Sheffield match due to injury.
Castagna returned to UK racing with Edinburgh over the weekend, and he takes his place at No.2 alongside Max Fricke – who was frustrated to miss out on the top ten in the FIM Grand Prix of Germany on Saturday, despite winning his fourth ride.
Meanwhile, Stars reserve Jody Scott continued a terrific run of form at all levels with an 11-point haul for Redcar in their away win at Workington on Saturday, and he’s also looking forward to heading back to Foxhall.
Scott said: “We’ve had a meeting at Ipswich already, and that was mine and Cooper’s (Rushen) first meeting there in the Premiership.
“We’ve got dialled in now, we know what to do next time, and hopefully we can score some points.”
The Witches are forced into a change at reserve as Swedish racer Philip Hellstrom-Bangs is serving a ban imposed by his national federation, which prevents him from racing elsewhere.
However, the hosts should not be unduly disadvantaged as they will have Jordan Jenkins, a rider with extensive Foxhall experience, coming in to guest.
Lyon said: “We’ve got a lot of confidence in the team to go to Ipswich and perform well.
“We’ve been there once earlier this year, so hopefully we can turn them over and get some points on the board!”
Stars fans not making the trip to Suffolk should note that the meeting will be live streamed via https://witchestv.co.uk/ .
