KING’S Lynn reserves Jody Scott and Cooper Rushen have a big day ahead on Sunday as they compete in the British Under-21 Final at Redcar (5pm).
Both riders will be amongst the favourites for the event which has a very competitive line-up, and there will be a new winner as reigning champion Sam Hagon is now too old to compete.
Rushen, who has made a superb start to life in the senior leagues both with the PSH Environmental Stars and Poole, will be making his debut in the event.
Scott is more experienced in the meeting having finished sixth last year at Glasgow, and he has the added bonus that this year’s event takes place on his home Championship track at the ECCO Arena.
He said: “Luckily enough it’s at Redcar so I have quite a bit of experience there now from last year and this year.
“I’m going to put all my knowledge into one in that meeting, and try to claim it. If I don’t then I’ll learn a lot from it, and I’ve still got a couple of years left in it, but this year is definitely the year I want it.
“This meeting progresses a lot of youngsters. I did my first one when I was 15 years old back in 2022, that was my first year on a 500cc, and I learnt so much from it.
“I’ve managed to get in it ever since then and I love every minute of it. This year is going to be a tough one again and I’m looking forward to it.
“It’s a strong line-up and I don’t think there’s anyone in the meeting who’s not on form. It’s going to be an exciting meeting and it’s good for the fans, and good for the youngsters to get through.”

*STARS No.1 Max Fricke and Czech racer Jan Kvech both compete in the two-day FIM ATPI Grand Prix of Manchester at Belle Vue this weekend, with Round 3 of the series taking place on Friday, and Round 4 on Saturday. Both meetings get underway at 7pm.
