YOUNG STARS 62 BUXTON 27

Wednesday May 25, 2016
KING’S Lynn Young Stars recaptured their brilliant best home form as they stormed to a comprehensive 62-27 win over Buxton at the Adrian Flux Arena.

The Stebbings Car Superstore side suffered a disappointing defeat against title holders Birmingham in their last home outing but bounced back to record a hard-fought away victory at Coventry on May 13.

They picked up where they left off on their return to home shale, overcoming tricky conditions to comfortably claim all three National League points.

It was a convincing display from Dale Allitt’s side – and the Young Stars team manager was delighted with the attitude shown by his side as they overcame wet weather to come out on top.

Allitt commented: “The riders responded really well to tricky conditions, and even though the track wasn’t perhaps to our liking we responded well.

“It wasn’t ideal at the start, but both teams got on with it which they deserve a lot of credit for and it was a very good win for us.”

It was a fine all-around team display from the Young Stars, with Tom Stokes top scoring with 12+1 points from five rides.

No.1 Josh Bailey and reserve Scott Campos both struck superb, four-ride paid maximums whilst Nathan Greaves raced to three wins on his way to double figures.

Shane Hazelden put in a strong performance in the engine room of the side, whilst Ryan Kingsley enjoyed a smooth transition to the main body of the team and Layne Cupitt recovered from a tough start to add a creditable paid five.

The hosts ran just three last places and accounted for 12 race wins with a dominant display to move up to third in the early-season standings.

The Young Stars will be back in action when they host Cradley on Wednesday, June 8 (7.30).
