BIRMINGHAM 64 YOUNG STARS 26

Wednesday August 03, 2016
KING'S Lynn Young Stars endured a night to forget as they suffered a heavy 64-26 defeat at league leaders Birmingham.

The Stebbings Car Superstore side failed to register a single heat advantage and contributed just one race winner as they came up against the reigning National League Champions.

Nathan Greaves produced the only race win of the evening for the Young Stars in heat 15 and he insists a return to winning ways at home to the Isle of Wight on Friday is imperative.

Said Greaves: "Realistically, we always knew we were going to be up against it but we're disappointed not to have pushed them a lot harder.

"Let's be honest, we're not the first team and we certainly won't be the last to come away from Birmingham after being well beaten.

"We need to forget about this one now and focus on what is another big home meeting against the Isle of Wight.

"We've been getting some really good results at home and we need another three league points on Friday; if we can do that, it keeps us in a strong position as we try and get into the play off places."

The Young Stars' home clash against the Warriors gets underway at 7.30 on Friday at the Adrian Flux Arena.

BIRMINGHAM 64: Danyon Hume 13+1, Jack Parkinson-Blackburn 12+2, Dan Halsey 10+2, Tom Perry 10, Tom Bacon 9+1, Darryl Ritchings 7+1, Jack Smith 3+2.

KING’S LYNN 26: Nathan Greaves 10, Josh Bailey 5, Tom Stokes 4+1, Ryan Kinsley 3+1, Shane Hazelden 3, Scott Campos 1, Lewis Whitmore 0.
