YOUNG STARS 64 ISLE OF WIGHT 26

Friday August 05, 2016
KING’S Lynn Young Stars broke the 60-point barrier for the third time this season with a crushing win over Isle of Wight at the Adrian Flux Arena.

The Stebbings Car Superstore side claimed a 64-26 win over the Warriors with a dominant display just 48 hours after being beaten by the same scoreline at Birmingham.

It was another confidence-boosting home performance from Dale Allitt’s side to keep their National League play-off hopes alive.

Team boss Allitt was delighted to see his side emerge as comfortable winners with a rampant performance featuring nine 5-1s.

Said Allitt: “It’s a lot more satisfying than the result was on Wednesday, and it’s always good to react to a difficult defeat with a good performance like that.

“We’ve done that a couple of times this season, and it puts us right back in the mix for the play-offs now.

“Wednesday was always going to be difficult, and we still have some tough meetings to come, but we’ve identified matches we think we can win or at least pick up points from.

“We have meetings in hand, so we still have a good opportunity to make the top four and we’ll be doing everything we can to get there.”

Nathan Greaves, Josh Bailey and Tom Stokes all struck paid maximums with faultless performances to lead the Young Stars.

Ryan Kinsley and Scott Campos also suffered just one defeat apiece, whilst Shane Hazelden bagged paid double figures at reserve.

Youngster Lewis Whitmore experienced a tough night at reserve, but it was nonetheless an excellent night for the Norfolk outfit.

The Young Stars will be back in action at Kent on Monday (6.30) before hosting Coventry Storm in their next home meeting on Wednesday, August 17 (7.30).
