YOUNG STARS V COVENTRY, PREVIEW

Tuesday August 16, 2016
KING’S Lynn Young Stars will look to take a major step towards the National League play-offs as they host Coventry Storm at the Adrian Flux Arena on Wednesday (7.30).

The Stebbings Car Superstore side remain right in the hunt for a top four spot and know a win over the Storm could move them back up to fifth in the standings.

A defeat for fourth-placed Cradley against Birmingham on Monday means Dale Allitt’s side can move within just three points of the West Midlands side with two meetings in hand.

Despite suffering three home defeats against Coventry in recent years, the Young Stars boss is confident they can overcome recent history to emerge with a vital win.

Said Allitt: “Our home fixture with Coventry has always proved to be tough for various reasons. A few years ago I remember them coming early in the season and James Cockle came down in his first ride, Brendan Johnson laid it down but the bike hit James and broke his arm, and then last year Tom Stokes fell in his first race and hurt his back.

“But as long as everyone comes through the meeting okay we’ve still got a very strong top five, and I think that will see us through.”

The Young Stars have drafted in Taylor Hampshire to guest for the injured Shane Hazelden at reserve, whilst they are otherwise at full strength.

Coventry have booked Ellis Perks to guest for injury victim Dan Greenwood at No.1, and they also include Liam Carr and Mitchell Davey in their side.

Meanwhile, the meeting will be followed by a Midland Development League encounter between King’s Lynn Lightning and Coventry Vikings.

KING’S LYNN: Josh Bailey, Scott Campos, Ryan Kinsley, Tom Stokes, Nathan Greaves, Taylor Hampshire, Lewis Whitmore.
COVENTRY: Ellis Perks, Conor Dwyer, Ryan Terry-Daley, Mitchell Davey, Liam Carr, Callum Walker, Jamie Halder.
