KING'S Lynn reserve Simon Lambert competes in tonight's (Monday) Sports Insure British Final at Belle Vue.

Lambert has been drawn at No.1 and is keen to make an impact in the sport's national showpiece event.

He said: "I’ve got nothing to lose and so much to gain in the British Final. It’s the first year that I’ve qualified on merit, as opposed to stepping in when other riders have been unable to do the meeting. It was a goal of mine to qualify on merit.

“It’s a good thing for my family, my friends, and my sponsors to be in the British Final – it’s a big date in the calendar.

“I’m going to enjoy it and do my best. I’m not saying I’m going to win it, but I’m not going there to make up the numbers.

“I’ve got a good draw at No 1 and there’s no reason that I can’t jump out of the start in Heat 1 and give myself a bit of confidence and build on that.”
