PREVIEW: STARS V LEICESTER

Wednesday March 27, 2024
KING’S Lynn finally get back into action on their own track with a terrific opening home clash against Leicester at the Adrian Flux Arena on Thursday (7.30pm).

The PSH Environmental Stars last raced at the AFA way back in early September last year, and expectation is high following the build-up to the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership season.

Stars began their campaign at Leicester last Thursday and gave a highly encouraging performance, going down 47-42 against a side who are expected to put together a strong home record this year.

That makes the aggregate point an attainable target on Thursday, and manager Rob Lyon has stressed the importance of those ‘bonus’ points given the overall strength of the league this season.

Stars fans will welcome new signings Tobiasz Musielak, Vadim Tarasenko, Benjamin Basso and Patryk Wojdylo for their home debuts, whilst Niels-Kristian Iversen is back in Lynn colours after spending last season with Peterborough.

Both sides are unchanged from last Thursday’s meeting in the East Midlands, and the performances of the respective No.2s could be important with Iversen in that position for the Stars, and the similarly experienced former Lynn rider Richard Lawson lining up in that spot for the visitors.

Lyon said: “Obviously you want to pick up some away wins if you can, but I keep saying home form is key.

“Getting three out of the five available points against teams home and away is also going to be key, and we’re well set now to get that aggregate bonus if we can get a good win at home.

“It won’t be easy because Leicester are obviously a good side, they’re a solid outfit, but that’s the case for all the teams this year.

“We’re on our home turf and the boys are looking forward to getting a meeting under their belts at home. Hopefully it’s going to be a win by six or more!”

Thursday’s meeting is the first of a run of three in succession at home for the Stars, with matches to come against Birmingham and Belle Vue over the next couple of weeks.

KING’S LYNN: Tobiasz Musielak, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Michael Palm Toft, Benjamin Basso, Vadim Tarasenko, Patryk Wojdylo, Anders Rowe.
LEICESTER: Max Fricke, Richard Lawson, Sam Masters, Luke Becker, Ryan Douglas, Drew Kemp, Joe Thompson.
