POSTPONED: STARS v BIRMINGHAM

Wednesday April 03, 2024
KING’S Lynn have taken an early decision to postpone Thursday’s ROWE Motor Oil Premiership fixture with Birmingham at the Adrian Flux Arena.

The decision, whilst frustrating for all, has been made with the interests of supporters and riders in mind as the circuit is still suffering the effects of heavy rainfall earlier this week.

Were there to be a completely dry forecast for Thursday, the situation would be different; however, the forecasts indicate further downpours on the way plus another period of rain from 6pm on the evening.

The two clubs are already in discussions over a re-staging date, which is likely to be in early May, and this will be communicated when confirmed.

Operations manager Dale Allitt said: “It’s not what anybody wanted, especially after having to postpone last week as well, but we’ve had to take what we feel is a sensible decision and we thank Birmingham for their understanding.

“We have been up against it in any case, and we are in a situation where one heavy rain shower on Thursday afternoon, and there is plenty of rain around, would mean we’d be off, and that’s even before what the radar is showing between 6-8pm.

“We’re also mindful of the fact that there are eight riders across both teams who will be flying in from elsewhere in Europe, along with everyone else travelling a distance to the meeting.

“We appreciate how much people pay to come in, and we do not want to put on a sub-standard meeting in what would be less than ideal conditions.

“So we feel it’s a prudent move and whilst we all want to see our team on track, it needs to be in conditions that are conducive to good, exciting racing, and that simply wouldn’t be the case this week.”

The PSH Environmental Stars will now kick off their home season against Belle Vue on Thursday April 11.
