STARS v BELLE VUE, PREVIEW

Wednesday April 10, 2024
KING’S Lynn finally get their home season underway when they host Belle Vue in a big ROWE Motor Oil Premiership fixture on Thursday (7.30pm).

The PSH Environmental Stars have been left kicking their heels since making an encouraging start at Leicester three weeks ago, when they went down to a narrow five-point defeat.

Subsequent home meetings against the Lions and Birmingham have fallen victim to the weather, but much better conditions are expected for the visit of the Aces.

Captain Tobiasz Musielak will make his first home appearance for the Stars, with Benjamin Basso, Vadim Tarasenko and Patryk Wojdylo also making their official home debuts.

The Aces are attractive opponents as always, led by British Champion and Grand Prix star Dan Bewley and captain Brady Kurtz, who has been in red-hot form so far this season.

And the visitors also include Norfolk racer Connor Mountain, who rode for Lynn in the Rising Star berth in 2021.

The last time the Manchester side travelled to the Adrian Flux Arena turned to be the big highlight of 2023 as far as the Stars were concerned, as the home side edged a tremendous meeting 46-44 in a last-heat decider.

And whilst the Stars would love a victory by a wider margin, a repeat of that atmosphere on the terraces would also be most welcome.

Manager Rob Lyon said: “It’s not been ideal to have the postponements, but we made the right call on both of them, and you can’t change the weather.

“We’ve just got to try and kick off with a positive result on Thursday. I think everyone is looking forward to getting stuck in, and hopefully getting that first win under our belts.

“It will be a tough meeting against Belle Vue, but that will be the case for almost all of them, as we’ve already seen with the results from the meetings which have taken place so far.

“Most have been relatively close and I stand by what I said before, I think that will the case this year. Home wins are going to be important for all clubs, along with aggregate points being key.”
